OKLAHOMA CITY – May 27, 2015 – McDonald’s USA recently announced enhanced benefits for employees at its company-owned restaurants, including expanding its Archways to Opportunities education offerings to provide eligible U.S. restaurant employees — at both company-owned and franchised restaurants — with free high school completion through Career Online High School, a national accredited program delivered through NexPort Solutions Suite.
McDonald’s USA is increasing efforts to help about 750,000 employees who work in a McDonald’s restaurant — company- and independently-owned — achieve a higher level of education by expanding its Archways to Education offerings to include free high school completion. Eligible restaurant employees can take classes and earn credits toward a high school diploma. NexPort Campus’ revolutionary online delivery platform allows them to complete their coursework when and where it’s convenient for them. McDonald’s USA will cover the costs. NexPort Campus is a hosted learning and knowledge management platform that offers user-customized, on-demand training and education services with virtually no investment in infrastructure. With NexPort Solutions, McDonald’s USA can operate a virtual school, university or training facility to include advisement, registrar services, payment processing, content hosting, customer service and a number of other services needed for McDonald’s USA employees as COHS students. “We believe that education is the true game changer as it helps our employees succeed, within our company and beyond,” said McDonald’s U.S. President Mike Andres. “Businesses like ours have a vested interest in helping to create an educated and well-trained workforce. We know that learning doesn’t only take place in the classroom. It also happens in the workplace.” For more information about McDonald’s USA’s Archways to Opportunities education offerings and other employee benefits recently introduced, visit shcoe.org. About NexPort Solutions Group NexPort Solutions Group is a division of Darwin Global LLC, a systems and software engineering company that provides innovative, cost-effective training solutions and support for federal, state and local government, as well as the private sector. Media Contact: Darcy Delaney Communications and Public Relations Specialist Darwin Global Enterprises 405-217-4060 www.nexportsolutions.com NexPort Solutions released NexPort Campus v5.2.0 Thursday, offering a new WebApi, user interface enhancements and performance improvements that increased the general performance of the system, as well as several new features. In addition, NexPort is moving its underlying architecture away from Monorail MVC to the Microsoft MVC framework. Engineers have increased the speed of NexPort Campus by removing legacy code and refining the NexPort indexing engine.
Using the new NexPort WebApi, clients can now integrate their existing applications, websites and other systems directly with NexPort Campus. The NexPort WebApi is a secure, JSON based API. It is fully documented and provides access to many of the administrative and reporting features in NexPort Campus. Additional WebApi methods will be introduced in v.5.3.0. New features in this release also included ad hoc invoicing. Ad hoc invoicing means that administrators can now create and manage invoices. NexPort Campus’ Invoicing System is a key part of the newly introduced Point-of-Sale (PoS) model. The PoS model is designed to augment the existing Organizational model, allowing students to receive enrollments through a purchasing system, as well as the standard group membership system. Custom enrollment fields were also introduced in 5.2.0. Custom enrollments provide administrators and other users with permission to gather information for enrollments via the student input assignment in the classroom. Students will answer the questions, sending that information directly to the respective instructor or administrator requesting the information. The student input assignment also allows administrators and/or instructors to securely gather data for certificates and user profiles. While custom profile fields are not a new feature to v5.2.0, enhancements were made that introduced new profile field types. A new audit log feature tracks any action taken on the fields. Enhancements to tests and question banks provided users the ability to upload test questions in bulk from a supported file type, making the process of creating tests simpler and quicker. Tests can also now contain open-ended response questions and user-defined question IDs (a unique identifier for searching and sorting). Administrators can use tests from the current organization or a parent, as well. In addition, instructors can add feedback to test questions. This feedback can be shown either after each question is answered or at the end of the exam. Finally, NexPort Campus 5.2.0 represents NexPort Solutions’ continued commitment to providing our customers with the tools and technologies they require to meet the constantly evolving needs of their students. Including this additional information allows our customers to more deeply customize their student's experience in NexPort. Descriptions of available fields can be found by using the help link next to the editors for Assignment Description and Group Pages. Descriptions for the new Certificate Fields can be found in the Administrator Help Documentation. Making Your Templates SmartGroup pages and assignment templates allow for the use of Velocity Template Language (VTL) syntax. Using VTL you can hide or display parts of a template based on student information, the date or any other variable. Here is an example: #if($currentUser.MembershipGroups.ContainsKey('BORG')) YES!!! There is a membership in the main organization. #end Your Groups #foreach( $group in $currentUser.MembershipGroups.Values ) $group.ShortName #end With VTL you are only limited by your imagination. VTL support is available in most Rich Text editors in NexPort Campus. VTL is not yet supported in Certificates. Learn more about using VTL on the VTL Website.
