NexPort Campus 5.1 Introduces Usability Enhancements,  Improves Performance

11/4/2014

OKLAHOMA CITY – Nov. 4, 2014 – NexPort Solutions Group released its latest version of NexPort Campus today. This release fixes 193 bugs and introduces 65 new features and enhancements. NexPort Campus 5.1 and the 5.1.1 point release improves performance and provides new features to organization administrators, system operators and instructors, including creating, and managing.

New Features
Select clients have been allowed to test the new invoicing features in NexPort Campus. The invoicing features will allow organizations to grant enrollments to students, using invoices that represent real-world monetary transactions. System operators, and administrators in these select organizations, now have the ability to create adhoc invoices to better serve their organizations’ needs. Not only can users customize invoices for billing, but administrators and other authorized users can also modify the expiration date and training available date on enrollments. Organization administrators can also lock the enrollment expiration date and date available to students. This new feature prevents enrollment changes from altering dates set for users. The invoicing features are the first step in a full Point of Sale implementation in NexPort Campus.

In addition to enrollment and invoicing features, NexPort engineers also introduced the ability for administrators to impersonate a student using SCORM courseware,  allowing administrators to see first-hand any issues the student might have. This provides them with the ability to reproduce and troubleshoot any complications a student might encounter.

Permissions have also been enhanced in the 5.1 release. Administrators with the new “Add Users” permission may add new users directly into NexPort Campus without requiring sysop permissions. In addition, both customer service and organization administrators can delete users if needed. A system status page was also added to display the current status of all required services for NexPort Campus.

Finally, users can now upload images directly to most fields that support rich-text or HTML input. This includes test questions, allowing for image-based questions on any exam built within NexPort Campus. Images uploaded to NexPort are stored and tracked in an organization-wide Media Library.  Media Library images can be managed, updated and deleted from the Documents area of Group Management.

Performance Enhancements
NexPort software engineers updated several features to increase speed and capacity within the LMS.
  • Users will now experience fewer delays and wait time because of improvements that include lazy loading FileSystemEntries, monitoring of background services and notifications while jobs and queues run, increasing enrollment deleting speed and replacing old email templates with a newer framework.
  • Several backend areas of the site were streamlined, allowing for faster responsiveness throughout NexPort Campus.
  • The system also received an update to the Activity Monitor Java applet to ensure NexPort Campus is in compliance with the latest Java requirements.
  • Many of the controllers have been converted to MS MVC 4.
